The Annual Meeting was held on Thursday, April 15th at the Iowa Telecom Innovation Center. Over 50 individuals representing community businesses and organizations, UW Community Partner agencies, local dentists who participated in Give Kids a Smile Day 2010, Employee Campaign Coordinators from local businesses and current and past UW Board members were in attendance.  Retiring Board members, Tammi DeJong from Thombert, Inc. and Mary Entz from DMACC were recognized for their outstanding service to the United Way over the past six years.

Three new board members for the 2010/2011 year were introduced.  They include Wendy Parker from Newton Community Schools, Bev Price from Great Southern Bank and Corey Walker from Walker Billingsley and Bair.  The 2010/2011 United Way Board Officers were also introduced as follows: Andrea Smith from Vernon Company as President, Dan Goetz from News Printing Company as Vice President, Dr. Michelle Cazett from Eye Care Center of Newton as Secretary and Corinne Coyle from Advangate Credit Union as Treasurer.  Community businesses and organizations with increased workplace campaign pledges were presented with a plaque or plate with their percentage of increased giving for the Fall 2009 campaign.  Marv Fangman, the Director of Clearview Recovery, Inc, a UW Community Partner agency, also shared the positive impact UW funding is making at Clearview.
